There's also an EcoBoost option which can help you stretch those miles further, using a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 237 horsepower.

Of course, since we're talking about the performance side of the Taurus, there is an upgrade for SHO models that mates the vehicle with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 365 horsepower and maintains a solid MPG rating with 17 miles per gallon city, and 25 mpg highway. The performance edition of the 2013 Taurus SHO can complete a zero-to-sixty sprint in 5.4 seconds, while turning in a 13.9-second quarter-mile stretch, reaching 103 miles per hour. The package also increases the top speed from 131 miles per hour to 140 mph, and includes many more amenities like electric power steering, a tighter suspension system, and sport mode for more stability.
