Ford truck sales were up four percent in April over March.

Four percent might not be some astounding number, but it's very telling. Usually, we might see a spike in sales with the Ford Mustang as summer approaches, but instead, more people are turning to trucks that give them the opportunity to take a camper, boat, or whatever else you can haul to enjoy the climate over sporty rides. To us, that's interesting, even if we still believe the Mustang would be a great choice too.

Not only are the rising sales of Ford trucks like the F-150 due to people wanting a vehicle for work and play, but also thanks to job creation in the U.S. and more efficient engines. The F-150 holds a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and trucks equipped with it comprised 43 percent of trucks sold in April. That demand meant an additional third shift was added at the Cleveland Engine Plant which is responsible for producing the engines. And, because of the success at the Cleveland plant, Ford announced it will begin production on a smaller EcoBoost engine to be outfitted on new Ford models down the line.

Other engine options of the new Ford F-150 include a 5.0-liter engine, while EcoBoost offers the ability to take more time between fill ups at the gas station with a 36 gallon fuel tank. Drivers can stay entertained and connected by enabling their iPhone, Android, or Blackberry to connect with the Ford SYNC AppLink, giving drivers navigation and Pandora Radio too.
